Maclean Beijing Bound!
From September 9-11, 2008 famed Wheelchair athlete John Maclean will chase the only thing that has eluded him in his illustrious career - a Paralympic Gold Medal.
Maclean, along with his rowing partner Kathryn Ross will compete in the TA2X Adaptive Pairs competition at the 2008 Beijing Paralympc Games.
Having taken up the sport in early 2007, Maclean and Ross won a silver medal at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich, Germany and subsequently secured Australia a position in the field for Beijing.
At last week's Australian Rowing Championships, both Maclean and Ross secured their seats in the boat and now all eyes are focused on Beijing.
"This is something I have wanted for a long time now" said Maclean. "While perhaps I didn't think I would get my shot at a gold medal in the sport of Rowing, it has been a fantastic learning experience for me and both Kathryn and I are fully committed to crossing the line first in Beijing".
