John Maclean

John Maclean is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest athletes.

Struck down by a truck while training for a triathlon in 1988 John has not let paraplegia get in the way of achieving what many people thought to be impossible

In 1995 John became the first wheelchair athlete to complete the legendary Hawaii Ironman triathlon. His incredible efforts at Kona between 1995 and 1997 saw him become the first Australian and only wheelchair athlete to be inducted into the Hawaii Ironman Hall of Fame. His name sits alongside the greatest athletes ever to participate in the sport.

John was the first, and still only, wheelchair athlete to have swum the English Channel when he completed the England to France crossing in 1998 in twelve hours and fifty five minutes. His feats of endurance and courage are legendary and have seen him compete at the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, the Sydney to Hobart and the Molokai Challenge.

John established the John Maclean Foundation in Australia in 1998 and has raised over $1,000,000 for young Australians under the age of 18 who use wheelchairs. John's inspiration and financial support is helping these great young Aussies realise that there are "only possiblilities" in life.

A global ambassador for Gatorade, John is a highly sought after corporate speaker across the globe who's clients include PepsiCo, Pfizer, eBay, Oracle, Mercedez Benz, Westpac and more!
